Inaugural Post!

Saturday, 21 December 2013

As the 2013 December holidays draw to an end, I hope everyone's completed their holiday homework! Remember, you shouldn't leave things to the eleventh hour, or your teacher is going to give you a piece of his/her mind!

Lessons learnt from this post:
1. draw something to a close/an end:
(idiom) to make something come to an end
Example sentences:
a. It is time we drew this evening to a close.
b. Ann drew the meeting to a close with a few words of encouragement.
2. the eleventh hour
(Fig) at the last possible moment. (Just before the last clock hour, 12)
Example sentences:
a. She always turned her homework in at the eleventh hour. b. The plan could not go through as she only informed us at the eleventh hour.
3. give someone a piece of your mind:
to scold or criticize someone strongly
Example Sentences:
a. The teacher is going to give the student a piece of her mind because he is always late.
b. Shawn’s mother gave him a piece of her mind because he was rude during dinner.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas,
Ms Chua
